[personal profile] northcliffpass

Welcome to Northcliff Pass, an OC-only, medieval fantasy sandbox game where the eldritch mysteries are made up and the monetary system doesn't matter. Situated along the pilgrimage path to Gods' Reach, Northcliff Pass is a podunk little backwater village within the island kingdom of Maireglenne, which has long, dark, bitter winters, and lengthy summers where the sun never seems to set. It's a place where the gods of the Earth, Wind, Sea, and Sun are venerated by the Church of the Path of Light, and those with the inherent vice of magic are viewed as Profane. Life is hard, and probably short, but there's plenty to explore and discover before you inevitably end up lost to the mines or the haunted forest, or six feet under in the church graveyard.

(NOTE: Our little game is invite-only, but the TDM is open to all. Curious, but not sure where to get started? Check out our Character Creation Guide, and our FAQ.)

I.  Got Goats?

Farmer Heinrich is a pillar of the Northcliff Pass community, mainly because he is very large and doesn't move very much unless there is beer involved. But his goats do an awful lot of moving, and today they've managed to break free of their enclosure and frolic off into misty Northcliff Wood. Perhaps you've volunteered to round them up by the light of day, when it is generally understood to be safe to wander the paths and do some hunting or trapping. Or perhaps you've lingered too long and find yourself lost in the Deep Wood. Maybe the goats are the least of your problems now.

II. Down in the Mines

The Northcliff Mines are the lifeblood of the village, but the work is hard and collapses are inevitable. This latest collapse was precipitated by the rumbling of Gods' Reach, the island's active volcano and the pilgrimage site of many devotees of the Path of Light. Miners trapped within the shafts are desperate for rescue, and the village has combined its resources to do what it can to rescue as many as possible. Are you an able-bodied adventurer capable of descending into the depths to move rubble and carry the wounded, or are your skills better put to use preparing food and other recovery efforts above ground?

III. Springfest!

Life is hard and suffering is inevitable, but that's no reason not to throw one hell of a party to celebrate the god of the Earth and the vernal equinox! The festival grounds are alive with music, dance, and offerings left before shrines set up to venerate the Earth. The celebrations, interspersed with ritual blessings of the soil, continue well into each night for a solid week, until at last the revelers are spent and life as usual must resume again.

But the party isn't over yet! Eat, drink, be merry--or drunkenly wander into Northcliff Wood for some stolen moments alone with your sweetheart. It will probably be fine.

IV. Wildcard

Go nuts, my little hellions.
